When do you feed Duval TendiFlex, Multibone or Collagen?

Are you looking for support for your horse's bones, joints, tendons and/or ligaments, but you don't know whether the TendiFlex, Multibone or Collagen is better suited to your situation? Then read on…

In this blog we explain the differences between Duval TendiFlex and Duval Multibone. We also explain the importance of collagen (main ingredient of the TendiFlex) and when you could choose to only give Duval Collagen.

The first difference between the two products is in the ingredients. TendiFlex contains collagen, turmeric, vitamin C, MSM, green-lipped mussel, lithothamnium and anise. While Multibone contains the following ingredients: oyster meal, turmeric, MSM, green-lipped mussel.

The overlapping ingredients in Duval TendiFlex and Duval Multibone

Although both products differ from each other and have a different effect, overlapping ingredients can also be seen above. Turmeric is found in both products and has a strong anti-inflammatory effect. The MSM and green-lipped mussel also occur in both products. MSM is an important building block for the quality and elasticity of connective tissue and cartilage. Green-lipped mussel is a natural source of glycosaminoglycans (glucosamine and chondroitin), which is used for the prevention and treatment of joint wear. These three ingredients are included in both Duval TendiFlex and Duval Multibone

However, there are also differences in ingredients between these two products. This difference in ingredients can also be translated into the difference in effect of the products. Each ingredient has its own specific effect. For example, oyster meal, processed in the Multibone, contains a lot of easily absorbable calcium, which in turn supports the maintenance of strong bones. Collagen, incorporated in the TendiFlex, is an important ingredient for the production of new connective tissue and the strength and elasticity of tendons and ligaments. This is especially important for tendon injuries, as tendon tissues consist of 90% collagen. Vitamin C has also been added to the TendiFlex. Vitamin C strengthens the effect of collagen and stimulates the body's own collagen production. Finally, anise has been added to the TendiFlex to neutralize the odor and for a gentler effect on the stomach, which optimizes the absorption of the ingredients. TendiFlex is supplied in a highly concentrated powder.

Duval Multibone for the bones and joints

The difference in ingredients also means that both products work differently. Duval Multibone, for example, focuses on the bones and joints. This product can be given to horses that are older to maintain healthy bones and flexible joints, but this product also has the same effect on younger horses. We often recommend this product for horses that participate in sports to prevent injuries, for young growing horses, but also for older horses with age-related complaints and/or wear and tear complaints. Multibone can be seen as a support for the entire musculoskeletal system, especially the focus on the harder structures.

Duval TendiFlex for the tendons, ligaments and cartilage

Where Duval Multibone supports the entire musculoskeletal system, Duval TendiFlex focuses on the tendons, ligaments, ligaments, synovium and cartilage. In short, the softer structures. TendiFlex stimulates the production of new connective tissue. This product can be used for both acute and preventive treatment of tendon injuries, joint infections, bursitis, strains or sprains, wear and tear complaints or cartilage breakdown (arthrosis). We also recommend this product during periods when the tendons, ligaments and joints are heavily loaded. TendiFlex is a very powerful formula that can be used in many ways for the above-mentioned complaints.

The differences at a glance

Now that we have explained how both products work, we can list the differences. The biggest difference is in the ingredients and therefore the effect of the product. Multibone has been developed for the bones and joints of the horse, while TendiFlex has been developed for the soft parts of the horse, namely the ligaments, tendons, ligaments and cartilage. In addition, we often recommend the Multibone as a preventive measure for horses in sport, older horses with osteoarthritis or young growing horses that have a higher load, for example. While we recommend the TendiFlex for horses with tendon injuries, inflammation in joints, incipient/acute osteoarthritis and other complaints of tires and/or ligaments. We only recommend the TendiFlex as a preventive measure for horses that require top performance or for horses that are recovering from or are more sensitive to such an injury.

The working of collagen

As mentioned earlier, Collagen is the main ingredient in the TendiFlex, but we also offer Collagen separately on our website. We do this because there are also horses that (fortunately) have nothing wrong with them, but for which you would like to give something extra for, for example, the tendons, ligaments, skin or hooves. Collagen is found in many structures of the body. As we said earlier, the tendons and ligaments, but also the skin, hooves and even blood vessels, consist of collagen, among other things. Just like humans, horses also produce less collagen once they reach adulthood, which is around the age of 8. The most abundant protein in the body is collagen and super essential for the structure and strength of connective tissues, such as bones, skin, cartilage and blood vessels. So do you have a horse that is over 8 years old that you want to give preventatively something for the tendons, ligaments, skin or hooves? Then Duval Collagen can be a good option.

We have a 15 year old sport horse that runs ZZL. He is tall (178) and a bit long in his body. He must have difficulty keeping up the collection, which is really well-traveled, for a long time. We would like to support him a little more because the training is really tougher now. And also for a good recovery. What is the best thing to give him?

      Dear Hermine,

What does your horse otherwise look like? Can he also gain some mass/build more muscle?
Both the Multipower and the Green Caviar are possible in this case, it depends a bit on the current condition of your horse and to what extent he really needs a boost. The Multipower will mainly help with muscle building, muscle recovery and overall health. The Green Caviar is a real boost and we often recommend it to horses that really need to gain weight in full. We also often make this product to measure and we can take many aspects into account, such as whether or not extra energy, attention to muscle building, etc. Would you otherwise like to send us an email at info@duvalhorseproducts.com then we look at the possibilities together. We can also provide more information about our products via email.
